FAITH REWARDS

GOD REWARDS THE FAITHFUL

It’s been quite a while since I showed up on these streets. The last time I was here, it was 10 Days to Christmas and now its 13 days after Christmas. Allow me to bring Y’all up to speed. Christmas was amazing. I enjoyed being with family and friends and my favourite highlight was my sister’s wedding which was also the 3rd wedding I’ve attended ever since I was born.  Yes, you heard that right. 3rd wedding ever since I was born. (I’m not really a fan of parties) I don’t remember much from the first except that I was a flower girl. I was pretty young then so there’s not much to remember.

So at 23, I’ve attended only 3 weddings but can only cleary recall 2 which both went down last year. 2018 was really interesting.

The wedding was not just my favourite highlight throughout the Christmas holidays but also one of my answered prayers from way back. I always pray for my family, parents and siblings and during my seasons of prayer and fasting I usually have some specific prayer points. This was one of them so seeing it be answered filled me with great joy and I’m so grateful to God.

Enough about the holidays and back to what I am sharing about today.

FAITH.

2018 taught me that Faith rewards. I sought the Lord and trusted Him on several occasions and He gladly answered. Today I was reading from 1 Samuel about David’s encounter with Ahimelek(ch) and Achish King of Gath. David fleed after learning that Saul was planning to kill him. David was afraid and he feared for his life when he realized that the servants of Achish had recognized him. He then pretended to be crazy and just like he survived what could have been the worst.

David sought the Lord and the Lord answered in an extraordinary way. After reading this I asked my self, was David just smart or was it because he was anointed? But it all came down to one thing, David had Faith and he trusted in God. He believed God would save him and God indeed saved him.

When we trust the Lord, keep His promises and commands – that Faith always pays off.

Last year I trusted God to help me pass the Bar. I prayed and fasted and even when I doubted myself when everything seemed so tough, I knew God was on my side. I sought Him and He answered. Faith rewarded and I Passed the Bar. The day I was going for my first exam, Proverbs 3:5-6 came to my mind.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

I recited this verse every day for each day that I had an exam. It might be a common verse but it hadn’t been common to me at the time but the Lord through His word communicated to me and in the end, He made my path straight.

Yesterday at church –  Watoto church I discovered that this year’s theme is “Faith over Fear“. Having learnt of the rewards of Faith last year amidst doubt and fear, I am excited to learn more and to grow in faith no matter what tomorrow holds.

Last year might not have been the best for you and maybe you weren’t as successful as you hoped to be but the Lord is faithful and it doesn’t matter how long it takes, your season will come. You just have to be faithful to God and know that your faith in God will soon be rewarded.

I wish you all the best of 2019 and pray that you will continue to believe in God and holding on to His promises – For all the promises of God are “Yes” in Christ. And so through Him, our “Amen” is spoken to the Glory of God ~ 2 Cor 1:20.
